The masterplan sets out what would be the completed version of the regeneration and connection of Boston’s Market Place and West Street. The former is evidence of the towns willingness to support its agricultural industry through weekly markets, while the latter has become identified with its current division as it is now referred to as East Street because of all of its easter European food shops.
As set out in the score, the design process and staggered interventions aim to create events that bring the town together from either side of the divide. Once the plan is completed, it is possible that the ‘Square’ and ‘Market Place’ platforms can be adapted and developed.
Designed to look like typical feasibility research, the questionnaire is a list of questions that I will ask to Bostonians when I make my visit tomorrow. The aim of the questionnaire is to gauge public opinion of West Street, and gain a better understanding of how it is used, beyond for its shops. I hope that the answers will contribute to my 5 Ws.
